Try Centering Prayer

An ecumenical Centering Prayer group will be meeting in St. Francis’ chapel on Wednesday evenings 5-6pm starting in December. You would be welcome to join this group anytime for prayer. The leader, Denise Tierney has a theology and counseling degree and has trained as an interdenominational chaplain, and has led retreats and workshops, and will be offering an educational forum soon to teach about the practice of Centering Prayer.

Centering Prayer is one of the forms of prayer of the heart that draws on techniques from antiquity both in Christianity and in religions of the East. It offers a way of preparing for prayer, learning to listen and be directed by the Holy One, ways of responding to pain, constant inner noise, and distractions in order to enter into deep communication with the mystery of God. It can be life-changing.
